Shreemad Bhagavatam, 4th canto, chapter 19, verse 28.

Hayamahe tvac-charasah tad-visam ayantayamo pahaviranantaram prasaya-vajan-duhavam te hitam Vayam vi marudvantam King Indra, Iha, here, Artha,

of your interest, Nashanam, the destroyer, Hayamahe, we shall call, Tvatshavasah, We shall call, Tvatsvavasah, by your glory, Atatvisham, orderly bereft of his power, Ayatayamah, never before used, Ubhavai, by mantras of invocation, anantaram, without delay, prasahya, by force, Rajam, O King, Jivavama, we shall sacrifice in the fire, Te, your, ayatam, enemy.

Translation in paraphrased by His Divine Grace, Srila Prabhupada.

Dear King, Indra's powers are already reduced due to his attempt to impede the execution of your sacrifice.

We shall call him by Vedic mantras, which were never before used, and certainly he will come.

Then, thus by the power of mantra, we shall cast him into the fire because he is a very poor man.

By chanting the Vedic mantras properly in a sacrifice 1 can perform many wonderful things.

In Kali Yuga, however, there are no qualified Brahmins who can chant the mantras properly.

Consequently, an attempt should be made, no attempt should be made to perfect such big sacrifices in this way, in this way, in this age and the only sacrifice recommended is the sankirtana movement.

Vandeham Sri Guru Sri Jatapakamanam Sri Guru Vaishnavams ca Sri Rupam Sagarajatam Sahagana Raghunathan Vidham tam sa jivam Sadhavitam Subhudhutam Balisambhavayah So we have to stick with the Samkhya-Tantra movement.

What is the value of the Samkhya-Tantra movement?

The Samkhya-Tantra movement is actually here to save us.

It's like when you take a course in the university, the final exam is a test.

So we all have the final exam coming for us, it's called death, the moment of death.

But the most amazing thing is, actually, the most amazing thing is that Yamaraja asked Yudhisthira, what is the most amazing thing in this world?

And Yudhisthira very wisely answered, the most amazing thing is that every moment people are dying, everybody thinks I will live forever.

So that's the great illusion in the modern day world.

This is why the Kirtan movement is so important.

Even if you are young, you can see the statistics, so many young people are dying every day.

Of course the older you get the more likely, the likelihood of death increases with each moment.

But actually even a young person can die.

So we have to prepare ourselves for death.

That's the ultimate goal Maharaja Pariksit.

He was cursed by Sringi to die within 7 days.

So actually for him it was good news because now he knew in 7 days I am going to die so now he prepared for death.

So he sat down in the bank of the Ganges and Shukadeva Swami came and so many great sages came and he heard the Srimad Bhagavatam.

That is how the Srimad Bhagavatam was spoken.

Before that he was all caught up in managing the kingdom, family affairs, government affairs, so many affairs going on.

But now he has 7 days just to completely absorb his mind in Krishna, completely absorb in Krishna consciousness.

So we are not so fortunate as Maharaja Yudhisthira to know I have 7 days to live.

I could die while I am giving this class.

I could have a seizure and I could drop dead right now while I'm giving this class.

So we have to, since we don't know, since death can come at any minute, we have to repair ourselves by always being Krishna conscious.

Yato yato nishcalati, nanas chan chalamas taram, kutas tato naiyaya ca, tatmo ye vimusham ghirah.

From wherever and wherever the mind wanders, due to its flickering and steady nature, 1 must only withdraw it and bring it back under the control of the self and then fix it on Krishna.

Actually we don't die, only this body dies.

Na jayate mriyate bhagatam sin na yam buddhabhavitavan abhuyah na jau yam sasvato yam paranah na hanyate hanyamane shivire So the soul is neither birth nor death at any time.

He is not come into being, does not come into being and will not come into being.

He is unborn, ever existing, undying and primeval.

We keep getting caught up in bodily consciousness and trying to find happiness by gratifying these material senses.

We have to train ourselves so that when death comes We don't base our happiness on bodily senses.

We have to base our happiness on our loving relationship with Krishna.

We have to learn how to be totally absorbed in Krishna.

Thinking about Krishna, talking about Krishna, serving Krishna, bowing down to Krishna, talking about Krishna, singing about Krishna, everything Krishna, Krishna, Krishna, Krishna, Krishna.

How can I act in such a way that Krishna is pleased?

Not how I can be pleased, but how Krishna can be pleased.

If I'm thinking how I can be pleased, separately from how Krishna can be pleased, then that's an illusion.

Of course people say, I'm happy doing this, I'm happy doing that, but it's maya sakaya illusory happiness, not genuine happiness.

Their so called happiness is nirananda, it is actually misery.

In the material world when the misery is not as bad they think it is happiness.

They are suffering like anything but then the misery is not as bad, now they think they are happy.

So material happiness simply means that the material misery is not as bad, they call it happiness.

Real happiness, misery is conspicuous by its absence.

So that real happiness only comes when we become Krishna conscious.

We have to take advantage of this great personality, the Sound Archarya of this country, the divine grace, Om Vishnu Pad, Paramahamsa Parivrtta-Kacharja, Aska-Tarasa-Darshina-Srimat, Asi Bhaktivedanta Sri Nandi Goswami Maharaj Prabhupada, who is telling it like it is, Cutting out all these attachments to the material world is cutting, cutting, cutting.

He cuts with a razor, the transcendental knife, cutting away the lust, the anger, the greed, the madness, the illusion, the envy.

So the business that we have to engage in to get liberated is hearing.

Actually, hearing is the way you acquire knowledge.

It's like you go to the university, the college, where they give you a year for the professor.

So, hearing is the way we acquire knowledge.

So, we have to take this hearing tendency we all have and we have to apply it to Krishna, hearing about Krishna.

This cuts away all the illusion and confusion that we have in profusion.

The more we hear about Krishna, the more we can talk about Krishna.

If you haven't heard about Krishna, you're talking about simply mental speculation.

When we've heard about Krishna, we can repeat what we have heard.

And the advantage of repeating is that you hear it again and your audience also hears it.

Lord Krishna's order is, Jare Deha Tadikaha, Krishna Upadesha, Amaranga your Guru or your Tadir Deva, whomever you meet and document the teachings of Krishna.

In this way, in my order, you become Guru and you become the people of this country.

So we hear, hear, hear very carefully without any misinterpretation or speculation.

We take it as it is and we repeat it as it is.

That increases our benefit because Not only am I helping myself by hearing about Krishna, but I'm helping others to become Krishna conscious.

That increases the benefit of hearing, when we vibrate what we hear without any interpretation or speculation, keeping it as it is.

The difficulty is nowadays people hear a little bit, they add their own interpretation And they repeat their mental speculations and misguide their audience.

They are misguided and their so-called preaching misguides the others.

Like the 1 so-called guru, he said, I am God, you are God, we are all God.

way from India, the sannyasi, he has come all the way from India to America and he is telling the people, I am God, you are God, we are all God.

So we should not hear from these bogus gurus that tell us that we are God.

We have to hear it from the spiritual master who tells us that you are the servant of God.

Jivara Sarvopahaya, Krishnara Nityadatta, the constitution of the position of the living entity is the eternal servant of Krishna.

So in this way we have to become properly guided.

We have to learn how to become fixed in our purpose.

That I am the eternal servant of Krishna, my only duty is to please Krishna, So now let me mold my life in such a way that I am completely absorbed in the purpose of serving Krishna.

Levasyat mukha buddhir ekehakula-nandanah, bahushakahinan tashyabuddhi-yasayinam.

Those who are on this path of resolute and purpose and their aim is 1, 0 beloved child of the Kurus, the intelligence of those who are irresolute is many-branched.

So we have to hear from the bona fide spiritual master, the bona fide Vaishnava, and we have to understand what is my actual duty, what should my purpose be, and then become absolutely resolute.

My purpose is to be the pure devotee of Krishna and to serve Lord Caitanya's order and preach His message to everyone.

Let me be completely fixed on my purpose.

I have no other business except to become the pure devotee and spread Krishna consciousness movement to the suffering souls.

And those who are not fixed like this, their intelligence is splayed, running here, running there.

The mind is jumping, jumping, jumping, jumping, jumping, like a monkey, jumping from 1 branch to another branch.

So we should not be like monkeys, jumping here, jumping there for sense gratification.

We become sadhus, saintly devotees of the Lord.

There is only business to think of Krishna, talk of Krishna and serve Krishna 24-7.

This is the example we see from great personalities like Maharaja Pariksit, Rishi Prabhupada, Bhakti Sanatana Sarasvati Thakur, Renarda Muni.

We should follow the pathway which has been chalked out by the great Acharyas.

We went down to the animal kingdom in the next birth.

The so called heroes in the material world, they are all going down to become dogs and monkeys and pigs and orangutans in the next birth.

We shouldn't follow these rascals, we should follow the mahajanas, the great personalities.

Those are the people we should modify our lives as an example of, not the so-called heroes of the material world.

If we actually follow these great personalities then our future is very very bright.

follow these great personalities by fixing our mind nutrition at the time of death then we finish up our suffering in this material world.

We have been suffering here for thousands and millions and billions of lifetimes.

Going through birth and death, old age and disease, to the 8,400,000 species again and again and again.

Again and again, looping the loop, again and again and again.

death, old age and disease, birth and death, old age and disease, looping, looping, thousands, millions and billions of times.

But now in this human form we have the very rare opportunity to get out of this horrible mess that we have been caught up in.

We can get out of this horrible mess by following the example of great personality, surrendering to Krishna.

Take very seriously Krishna's instructions.

By eating only food which has been offered to Krishna, and Yagni Santir, Krishna said Patram Putam Padyam Padyam, Patram Putam Padyam Padyam, very nice, you offer me leaf or flower or fruit or water, with love and devotion I will accept it.

This is an amazing thing, you can actually offer something to God and He'll accept it.

They don't teach this in Christianity that you can offer something to God and He'll accept it from you.

And there's no personal relationship that they taught in Christianity or Judaism, these modern day religions, they don't teach about that intimate loving personal relationship with the supreme lord.

It's just take, take me, give me, give me, give me a Cadillac, a brand new Cadillac, a pleat with Michelin tires, give my wife a new silk sari, give my kids a Harvard education, give me a house by the sea, om jaya benedi shahri.

That's what's going on, give me this, give me that.

But now, you approach, you might even, even if you get that thing, you won't get in, you won't get God.

Even if you get that house by the sea, or that Mitchell and tires on your fancy car, even if you get those things, you won't get God.

You won't get liberated in the cycle of birth and death.

So what's the use of praying for these things that keep you entangled in the material world?

Why not pray for pure devotional service?

Hare Why not pray for pure devotional service?

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama,

Then you will actually get that person who owns and controls everything.

When you own Krishna, you actually own everything.

You give yourself fully to Krishna, then Krishna reciprocates.

Yaya ta mam kapanyante, tamas te taiva vijanam.

Hanma mam bhagavan invardhante, manuhya-pratasarva-saha.

Inasmuch as they surrender to Me, I reward them accordingly.

Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Pritha.

Why does Krishna say everybody follows My path?

Yes, It is like everybody follows the government.

The law abiding citizens follow the government.

The criminals follow the government also by force.

They are forced to follow the rules of the prison.

So you have a choice how you want to follow Krishna.

In the cycle of birth and death, being forced to go through birth, death, old age and disease, whether you like it or not, following the rules of birth, death, old age and disease, you might as well follow the rules of eternal knowledge and bliss.

Everyone follows Krishna, either in eternal knowledge and bliss or in temporality, ignorance and misery.

Use your intelligence and decide how you want to serve Krishna.

But if you actually say, I am going to give myself to Krishna, Krishna reciprocates with you.

Just imagine the God himself reciprocates with the devotees in the spiritual world, The cowherd boys, the cowherd girls, the cows and the calves, even the monkeys.

Even there was that pastime in the spiritual world.

There were 2 demigods, Nalanda Varada and Manu Giri.

They became intoxicated but they were the sons of Kavir, the treasure of the demigods.

They were very wealthy sons of the treasure of the demigods, wow they are very wealthy, but just like any wealthy person they get carried away and go into sense gratification.

So they were actually, they went to the heavenly regions, They were in a lake or a river or a pond, sporting in nude with some nude women also.

They had some beautiful women, they were all naked, sporting as Papa said like the elephants, enjoying the male elephants enjoying the female elephants.

Nalakuvara and Managriva, the heavenly damsels, were all naked.

But then Narayana Muni had come along and said, Oh, here is the great sage that covered himself up.

But Nalakuvara and Managriva, they were more intoxicated.

They remained naked in front of the sage.

So he thought to be kind upon them, he cursed them to become trees.

Because then you can't, a tree can't go after a sense god, all you can do is stand there.

But trees in the courtyard are anonymous.

But for a long time, for the hundred years of the demigods, they had to stand there with a full remembrance of why they got cursed.

They had human consciousness in the form of trees and they would stand there.

When they really met the sag, they realized they met it for a hundred celestial years of denigrad, they could remember What a horrible thing they had done.

But then there was that pastime when Krishna became a domino.

She tied him to the wooden, what was it called, the petal.

And punish him for his nonsense behavior.

But then he dragged with that rope, that wooden, he dragged between these 2 trees and pulled them over, knocked them over and came out as great devotees.

Even a little baby Krishna, he can liberate these 2 demigods by knocking the trees over.

So Krishna is very, he was very kind in Anakavya and Manigriva and Narada Muni was also very kind you see.

So the great devotees are very kind to us.

It may appear that all of them are cruel to make them become trees for a hundred celestial years.

1 may think he was very cruel, but actually that was his kindness.

We may think the devotee is being so heavy with me, the devotee is not kind and yet actually the devotee's happiness is also the devotee's kindness.

To help him rectify us from our nonsense behaviors and our nonsense mentalities.

So we should take the mercy of the Vaishnava, take the mercy of Krishna and make our lives successful.

So Let us now wake up from this sleep illusion and become liberated souls.

No longer being carried away by these senses.

Jaya to vishayam tumsam, sangat teshu vijayate, sangat sanjayate kama, kama krodho vijayate, krodho bhavati sammoha, sammohasmasi vignama, smtibhamsad vidhi na shobh, vidhi na sva-pranasyati.

While contemplating the objects of the senses, a person develops attraction for them.

When memory is removed, intelligence is lost.

And intelligence is lost, bloop, 1 falls down again in the material pool.

So we should not be carried away by these radical senses.

Beautiful pastimes in Krishna, so many wonderful names of Krishna, he has unlimited names.

Beautiful names, beautiful pastimes, beautiful lotus feet, beautiful, he is also appearing in front of the Deity.

Sometimes they think, can I get some Deities, I will just give him some water once a day?

If you invite a guest to your home and give him water once a day, that's how you receive a guest?

So the prophets don't make a deity worship a farce.

You have to, you are inviting the Supreme Personality of God into your home.

So you have to treat Him as the Supreme Personality of God.

Give Him all loving service, all kindness.

So Sibi, do you have any complaints or questions coming in?

That we've made up ourselves another career.

So, taking that example, 1 can say, OK, I'll be like them.

Not like the ladies who got covered and they got blessings.

In a covered way they got the blessing to see Krishna.

So, somebody can do that and get the blessing of Krishna.

But you don't know if you're going to get it or not.

So, the other people that are going to eat susu, they will get it too, right?

It just so happens that not many happen to come through that area.

We may go down to the nudie club here in Austin and take off all my clothes and go to the nudie club and have some fun with the prostitutes.

But Nardi Moody may I happen to come to and curse you.

not come, Nardi Moody may I happen to come to you in the nudie club in downtown Austin.

You may not be so lucky to have Nara Muni come.

Nara Muni used to happen to come through that area.

Why not take the sure thing and chant Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare

So those dala kuberas, the 7, they were so intoxicated that they became fortunate whereas the ladies did not.

They were fortunate to be cursed by Narada Muni.
