Lex Fridman plays Cyberpunk 2077

1 hours 10 minutes 12 seconds

🇬🇧 English

S1

Speaker 1

00:00

Alright, welcome to Game Time with Grandpa Lex. I'm not sure if it's of use to anyone, but this is a record of my brief travels to the year 2077 in the cyberpunk universe. I sadly don't have time to play games these days, but they've been a source of a lot of pleasure throughout my life, so life's too short. Might as well enjoy it every once in a while.

S1

Speaker 1

00:25

I'll try to do this once or twice a month, but if we're being honest, 2021 is looking quite insane. The next 1 I want to try is Stanley Parable, which is the opposite of Cyberpunk. It's only like a 15 minute game that you play through several times. I think Cyberpunk 2077 is supposed to be a game you can play if you do all the side quests.

S1

Speaker 1

00:44

You should be able to play for at least 100 hours. So I'm only gonna do about 2, 3, maybe 4 hours today and that's it. I'm gonna walk away. Nobody walks away from good RPG.

S1

Speaker 1

00:55

Well, I'm gonna walk away, friends. It's called discipline. All right, here we go. Oh, and please check out our sponsors in the description.

S1

Speaker 1

01:03

Theragun and Grammarly. So 1 is for your muscles and the other is for your grammar. The choice is yours, my friends. Choose wisely.

S1

Speaker 1

01:14

Please check them out in the description to get a discount and to support the podcast that I host. Alright, here we go. New game, Cyberpunk 2077, released just like a couple hours ago. Let's go.

S1

Speaker 1

01:28

Select difficulty level. Most things in life I will go very hard. For me, normal is probably the equivalent of what very hard is for most gamers. I really haven't played video games in a long, long time.

S1

Speaker 1

01:43

All right, normal is enemies will have all the tools at their disposal to take V on, V is the name of the character I suppose, but primarily only enemies at a higher level would prove a challenge. Easy as the right choice for players who just want to sit back and enjoy the story, combat will not pose a challenge. Ooh, as you get older you learn to appreciate the story not the combat. What would David Goggins do?

S1

Speaker 1

02:09

David Goggins probably go very hard and lose within 5 minutes and then go run. Okay let's go normal. Nomad, street kid, or corpo. So many decisions.

S1

Speaker 1

02:25

Select V's life path. Some events and dialogue options in the game will be different depending on your choice. Nomad is roaming the badlands, looting scrap yards, roiding fuel depots, life on the road wasn't easy. But growing up in Nomad clan has its perks.

S1

Speaker 1

02:43

Honesty, integrity, and a love of freedom. Qualities that few in Night City possess and no amount of money can buy. Street kids, they say if you want to understand the streets you gotta live em. Gangs, fixtures, dolls, small time pushers, you were raised by them all.

S1

Speaker 1

03:03

Down here, the law of the jungle dictates, the weak serve the strong. The only law in Night City you have yet to break. The weak serve the strong. Think we're gonna need a couple hours to think about that 1.

S1

Speaker 1

03:17

Okay, Corpo. Corporate. Comes with a marketing team and HR. Few leave the corporate world with their lives.

S1

Speaker 1

03:27

Few are still with their souls intact. Amen. You've been there, you've bent the rules, exploited secrets and weaponized information. There's no such thing as a fair game.

S1

Speaker 1

03:39

Only winners and losers. I'm pretty sure Nomad is basically where it's at. I wish you could wear a suit and tie as a nomad. Let's see if you can dress yourself.

S1

Speaker 1

03:49

Let's go nomad. Oh boy. Select V's body type. V's appearance may sometimes affect the behavior of other characters.

S1

Speaker 1

04:01

Appearance doesn't matter. It's all about the inside. I feel very uncomfortable with the selection. So there's this guy with a short cut and some red hair.

S1

Speaker 1

04:11

Guys with some scars. Scars are always good, means you've lived. This guy's too good looking. Oh this is random generation?

S1

Speaker 1

04:29

Alright let's just keep generating random ones until we get close to what we're looking for. We want gritty but not too pretty. Disturb the comfortable nice tattoo. I think the random generation is really off.

S1

Speaker 1

04:58

I think this is actually pretty close to what I'm looking for. Voice tone, masculine, feminine. This pronouns. I'm going to go with he, him.

S1

Speaker 1

05:17

Skin type. That's so cool. I love video games so much. You can define so much about the characters hairstyles.

S1

Speaker 1

05:28

Oh Man let's go with the basics. I'm a big fan of eyes, so I think eyes truly are the window to the soul. So let's see. Oh, it's like, interesting.

S1

Speaker 1

05:44

It's more like the entirety of the structure of the, okay, cool. I like the intensity of the original guy. Eyebrows. Whatever, this is good enough.

S1

Speaker 1

05:57

It's starting to get uncomfortable. Nose, that's good enough. Mouth, yep. Ears, Can you do cauliflower ears?

S1

Speaker 1

06:11

This guy been in a fight? Come on. Ugh. Give me some...

S1

Speaker 1

06:17

Is that... Is that- Is that a little cauliflower? Do we really need 21 ear types? Beard?

S1

Speaker 1

06:37

Beard is fine. Maybe clean shaven? Nah. Cyberware?

S1

Speaker 1

06:45

I don't know. Can you go no cyberware? It's kind of old school with this, yeah, a little subtlety. Yeah, just off, okay.

S1

Speaker 1

06:54

Yeah, off on the cyberware. We go old school. We like cyber, but let's keep it off the face not the face facial scars yeah you gotta have facial scars each 1 of them has a whoa that's a that's intense that's like a tire been driven over him I like I like I like this 1 it's got hit in the head with something facial tattoos nah piercings nah teeth yes please Oh yeah I'll go with the white ones. Oh right yeah.

S1

Speaker 1

07:38

Basic teeth. Eye makeup color, lip makeup, cheek makeup, blemishes nails short nipples on or off you can turn off the nipples let's keep the nipples body tattoos bodies no tattoos scars yes let's go with the Bruce Lee the 3 the 3 scratch marks That's either a cat or overly friendly girlfriend. Genitals, I'll probably edit that part out, but you can actually select the genitals so like penis or vagina and then you can select the penis size and Pubic hair style it's kind of fascinating. It's an interesting design choice But since I'm thinking of uploading this video I'll keep it family-friendly But in case you're wondering This character is packing some heat customize attributes Choose the core attributes you want to begin with.

S1

Speaker 1

08:40

Each attribute contains a set of skills. Both attributes and skills provide different bonuses depending on your style of play. Skill levels increase as you perform activities associated with them. The maximum level of a skill is limited by the level of the attribute that it belongs to.

S1

Speaker 1

08:56

Interesting. Body determines your raw physical power. Intelligence determines your net running proficiency. Every level of intelligence will increase cyberdeck ram capacity, increase quick hack damage, so basically a hacking ability.

S1

Speaker 1

09:13

Computer Skills, like Napoleon Dynamite, non-check skills. Reflexes determine your maneuverability. Technical ability represents your technical know-how. It allows you to unlock doors and use tech weapons.

S1

Speaker 1

09:26

Cool determines your resilience, composure, and effectiveness in operating from stealth. So like a stealthy type of thing. So intelligence is like the, that's the mage, the wizard. Body's like the warrior.

S1

Speaker 1

09:42

Reflexes, yeah, that's like agility. Technical ability, that's lock picking. And then cool is like stealth, like lurking in the shadow. Probably, I'd probably go body and intelligence, probably emphasizing intelligence.

S1

Speaker 1

09:57

So I gotta be honest with you, I'm not into lock picking or sneaking around. I'm slow, hit hard, but also have reasonably okay programming ability so probably gonna put everything into body and intelligence. Well IRL and since it looks like I can't spend everything on body and intelligence ain't that the truth I'll go 1 in reflexes so begins your story in Night City alias V backstory Nomad attributes, we know what the attributes are. There's the scan code for the biometric data.

S1

Speaker 1

10:40

Let's go. User unknown. Patch. F.

S1

Speaker 1

10:48

Remove patch. Backers. Move with WSAD and look around with the mouse. Got it.

S1

Speaker 1

11:13

That mechanic looks like a punk. Maybe I should look in the mirror so how do I actually engage with him you can cycle through dialogue choices I guess with the mouse wheel or up and down, calm down brother okay so now in square brackets it says check engine and I can tell the step aside I'll handle it at or I'm going to pay you what we agreed I'm gonna pay you what we agreed

S2

Speaker 2

11:40

gonna pay you what we agree not 1 anymore

S3

Speaker 3

11:44

but I think I'm part of my tools and fix yourself

S2

Speaker 2

11:49

that's fine

S1

Speaker 1

11:50

step aside you

S4

Speaker 4

11:56

heard me

S1

Speaker 1

11:56

I think I'll bypass the coupling

S2

Speaker 2

11:58

I'm gonna bypass the coupling and rig a hotwire compress will run on and on it could seize up

S1

Speaker 1

12:06

I know what I'm doing Did anyone ask your opinion? I like this guy. Satan, maids of Satan.

S1

Speaker 1

12:19

So the exclamation point is get in the car. Those are the things, those are like quests or instructions. Get in. F.

S1

Speaker 1

12:26

Cool. Let's go. Okay, let's see what happens. Start engine.

S1

Speaker 1

12:38

Love the sound of this car. Connect to radio station yes please. I like this town.

S3

Speaker 3

13:15

Don't you know you owe the sheriff a word when you pay his town a visit to tell him what's brought you here

S1

Speaker 1

13:22

hey big guy

S3

Speaker 3

13:23

for a cup of coffee

S1

Speaker 1

13:25

I'm just passing through

S2

Speaker 2

13:27

no need to worry I won't be staying long didn't ask my question now did you

S1

Speaker 1

13:34

I'm here alone I travel alone

S2

Speaker 2

13:36

there is no clan there is no camp I'm here alone

S1

Speaker 1

13:40

closed door I don't want any trouble I don't think I want any trouble not afraid of it just don't want trouble with this guy. He seems like a small fish. Alright, calm down buddy.

S1

Speaker 1

13:55

Drive out the garage, W. Okay. Vehicle steering, A and D, accelerate with W, brake with S, cool. And?

S1

Speaker 1

14:09

Where do I go? Go to the telecom tower okay gotcha such a poor... Active job objectives are marked with the exclamation on the HUD ok go to the telecom tower yeah, video games are so fun you drunk let's go home so bad at this sorry I'm I'm paying attention to a million things. I'm not paying attention to the road.

S1

Speaker 1

14:50

Exit vehicle, taxi vehicle, hold F. This game is so beautiful. I want to go hiking out there. Can we just go there?

S1

Speaker 1

14:59

Is that a side quest? Just go hiking. Oh, this is nice. It's freezing in Boston right now.

S1

Speaker 1

15:07

This would be nice. Just run up that mountain. You see like David Goggins running along those mountains look how beautiful that is that's when you know you're getting old you don't want to shoot anything you just want to enjoy walking around looking at the beautiful scenery alright F enter what do you want from me kick it in you gotta kick it in climb the telecom tower and locate the control box hopefully this is not nauseating to to watch I see how do you call cool very rusty with this whole video game thing open oh that's not the button I'm also using a kinesis keyboard which is really hard to press stuff with connect to radio this is ground control to major Tom

S3

Speaker 3

16:16

come in come in raised you finally

S2

Speaker 2

16:21

Willie McCoy, it's good to hear your voice.

S3

Speaker 3

16:25

Phee, wish I could say the same.

S1

Speaker 1

16:32

I need your help.

S2

Speaker 2

16:33

I need your help. 1 last time.

S1

Speaker 1

16:36

Look at that car driving

S3

Speaker 3

16:38

over there. 1 last time. Again?

S1

Speaker 1

16:40

Yes. I have to find

S2

Speaker 2

16:41

the client with my payload, but I don't know where he

S5

Speaker 5

16:43

is.

S3

Speaker 3

16:46

Right place, right time. You were there?

S1

Speaker 1

16:50

Of course.

S2

Speaker 2

16:52

Of course I was. Maybe the client left a message. Could you check for me?

S3

Speaker 3

17:00

Sure. Last time, though. I mean it. Client's name?

S2

Speaker 2

17:05

Jackie Wells.

S3

Speaker 3

17:10

Huh. Actually left a message He's waiting on a farm Flicking you the geoloc data

S2

Speaker 2

17:17

Cool. Thanks Willie. I owe you 1.

S1

Speaker 1

17:20

This is the Keanu Reeves character I think. Don't get yourself killed. Don't get yourself killed.

S1

Speaker 1

17:26

Wow. That sounds like every time I talk to my parents. Da dum tsh. I'm terrified of heights even in a video game so...

S1

Speaker 1

17:39

This is very stressful. Look at this thing. Definitely not a Tesla. Maybe a Cybertruck.

S1

Speaker 1

17:50

Like a really beat-up Cybertruck. I love that sound. Head to the meeting place.

S5

Speaker 5

18:00

Wow,

S1

Speaker 1

18:05

what? How old are you that you're driving like this? It's hard with the Kinesis keyboard. That's my excuse.

S1

Speaker 1

18:13

Plus, I don't want to go slowly. I

S5

Speaker 5

18:18

want to go fast.

S1

Speaker 1

18:20

So soon. This is Jacques Valjean. All I was doing is driving, sir.

S1

Speaker 1

18:25

Okay, police introduction. Any illegal activity such as theft or attacking civilians will result in the NCPD placing a bounty on you. The police will send a patrol to the crime scene and the strength of the response will be proportionate to the size of the bounty. To lose the police move away from the crime scene and lay low for a while.

S1

Speaker 1

18:45

So it's kind of like GTA Grand Theft Auto. I'm really sorry I was just driving sir they're shooting at me I should've gone with the easy level. I just wanted to go hiking. This is so bad.

S1

Speaker 1

19:07

It's really sensitive, okay? In meat space, I'm used to the car not being so sensitive to my keyboard. Nomad, head to the meeting place. I don't know any of the keyboard shortcuts.

S1

Speaker 1

19:20

I'll probably like look behind me Get out of the car This is very stressful F. I'm getting out of the car you told me the car and car all you have to hold that school me jackie wells I can let's go

S2

Speaker 2

19:48

was worried that the term the farming

S1

Speaker 1

19:51

okay I guess this is not the the canon reviews character. Are you Jackie Wells? Good man Let's do a podcast good manners, you know Let's start with you then

S2

Speaker 2

20:17

why don't we start with you then? NC native right here got Haywood in my blood. I've never been to NC that doesn't mean much to me so Let's start with you then.

S2

Speaker 2

20:31

Family.

S1

Speaker 1

20:42

Family. It's like the futuristic version of Godfather. Mysterious. What's with the haircut choice?

S1

Speaker 1

20:55

I'm questioning it. Father what's

S5

Speaker 5

20:55

with the cargo the haircut choice

S1

Speaker 1

20:56

questioning it what's inside don't ask questions let's just let it

S2

Speaker 2

21:01

out

S1

Speaker 1

21:06

followed jackie Let's just load it up. Follow Jackie How much you think this guy can bench? Probably does 315 reps of 10

S5

Speaker 5

21:23

That's

S1

Speaker 1

21:23

not nice. No swear please open the trunk I should have asked what's in there. I'm starting to regret these decisions.

S1

Speaker 1

21:43

Here we go again. I'm just going to go the speed limit this time. I'm getting made fun of so much for this driving Back in my day we used to play Prince of Persia you had to just exist in a two-dimensional world, scrolling from left to right. This is such a beautiful game.

S1

Speaker 1

22:16

I look at the city in the background. Look at this world. It feels like a coronavirus time too. Deserted.

S1

Speaker 1

22:32

The Wind is blowing. I love this. Drive to the border. These games are so amazing.

S1

Speaker 1

22:47

The police officers they're always nice

S6

Speaker 6

22:52

to the inspection area

S1

Speaker 1

22:56

I think those

S7

Speaker 7

22:57

just the security I

S8

Speaker 8

23:01

got a real begins shortly

S1

Speaker 1

23:09

take document him in the fed manifest only to see

S2

Speaker 2

23:14

me see its mark Dalloway perfect what's that mean lost an arrival means the cargoes flagged as to be lost as soon as it crosses the border. Oh, so they know we're smuggling? They're about to find out.

S1

Speaker 1

23:33

Look at the dog bobblehead.

S5

Speaker 5

23:34

The

S6

Speaker 6

23:34

owner of the vehicle in the inspection area will report for further questioning.

S1

Speaker 1

23:39

You have bribe money?

S2

Speaker 2

23:40

1 customs officer to turn a blind eye to our dubious docus will need a sweetener. Do You have the credit chip with the bribe? Oh, yeah.

S2

Speaker 2

23:50

I forgot about that.

S1

Speaker 1

23:52

Oh, interesting. Is it Bitcoin? Or is it Ethereum?

S1

Speaker 1

23:57

Take money and get out.

S2

Speaker 2

24:00

Right. You forgot.

S1

Speaker 1

24:07

Welcome to the...

S4

Speaker 4

24:08

If you're armed, place your weapon here.

S1

Speaker 1

24:11

Cool, cool. Deposit weapon at the front desk. I don't know if I'm armed.

S1

Speaker 1

24:17

Place weapon. Now I know. Wow, that thing looks good. 2.

S1

Speaker 1

24:25

1 of my favorite numbers. Keep pressing the wrong key. That'd be funny if he was wearing a Make America Great Again hat. Is this a routine?

S1

Speaker 1

24:50

I like the depth

S5

Speaker 5

24:51

of conversation here. It might be we'll see like to

S1

Speaker 1

24:51

get the conversation here

S2

Speaker 2

24:53

what are you transporting no in there I S remind me you drive for which nomad clan

S1

Speaker 1

25:05

I don't drive for any clan. 1 man wolfpack. I feel the same way.

S1

Speaker 1

25:33

Collect your weapon at the front desk I apologize if I'm moving really slowly here I'm just enjoying this this is super fun for me just walking around like each of these people have a life story probably. Thank you. Turn to the car. Oh he's driving I guess.

S1

Speaker 1

26:07

For a guy that looks like that on first appearance, he seems awfully nervous. He seemed nervous. I bet he sensitive soul. Tough exterior, sensitive soul.

S1

Speaker 1

26:35

Given how bad I was at driving, I'm probably even worse at shooting. Draw weapon is alt. Ugh, can I use this keyboard man? This is fun to shoot.

S1

Speaker 1

26:57

Okay. Yeah, actually I gotta actually... Am I trying to hit them or the car? I see, the car.

S1

Speaker 1

27:20

Got it. I thought I hit him in the head and he's still okay. I guess this is a game where if you hit the person that doesn't kill them. This is very stressful.

S1

Speaker 1

27:41

I don't like shooting at the police at this difficult tense time in 2020. I'm a huge supporter of the police, 1 of the hardest jobs

S2

Speaker 2

27:52

you can do, okay?

S1

Speaker 1

27:53

So I apologize for shooting at them. In this artificially constructed world of 2077. I'm also realizing my mouse is

S2

Speaker 2

28:07

not made for this. Cool.

S5

Speaker 5

28:19

Cool.

S1

Speaker 1

28:27

Oh there's some cool drones in the air.

S2

Speaker 2

28:33

Very interesting. Nice. Interesting place looks deserted I'm gonna stop here nice

S1

Speaker 1

28:43

palms are wet Get out of the car. Let's go. Temper.

S1

Speaker 1

28:59

Calm down. Things like this happen. I appreciate the honesty. What now?

S1

Speaker 1

29:25

Oh, please don't be a body. Please don't be a body. Alright, let's look. Fish.

S2

Speaker 2

29:31

Shit says our soccer on the crate we're robbing some heavy hitters maybe we'll make some heavy money

S1

Speaker 1

29:41

fish

S2

Speaker 2

29:42

on this really guana

S1

Speaker 1

29:44

yeah all that's

S2

Speaker 2

29:46

really I think

S1

Speaker 1

29:48

so wasn't going

S2

Speaker 2

29:49

to until what yeah what's the thing on TV about

S8

Speaker 8

29:52

him when extinct like 30 years ago from the lesser until he's come along Oh, lizard. Let's talk about the iguanas.

S1

Speaker 1

29:57

Jamie, pull it up. Oh, That thing looks beautiful. No plans.

S2

Speaker 2

30:15

Years traveling between states with my nomad family. I'll probably be waiting for you somewhere, No. We decided to go our separate ways.

S2

Speaker 2

30:24

That must be tough, huh? Having no 1 to go back to. But don't you worry. Let me help you find digs.

S2

Speaker 2

30:32

You gotta live somewhere. It's important to have people you can turn to. You know, like family. Maybe you'll find your own down in Night City.

S2

Speaker 2

30:45

Thanks, much appreciated. Hey, come on. It's nothing.

S8

Speaker 8

30:49

We got chemistry, you and me.

S2

Speaker 2

30:51

Be a crying shame to waste it.

S1

Speaker 1

30:52

Hope this guy's not trying to trick me.

S5

Speaker 5

30:55

Aw.

S1

Speaker 1

30:56

Oh, that thing is cute. Look at that. All right, let's shake hands.

S2

Speaker 2

31:03

Okay, partner, time to grab a whiskey and scurry out of here. Man to man.

S8

Speaker 8

31:09

Chick, we're looking for her somewhere in this building. Alright, let's shake hands. Man to man.

S8

Speaker 8

31:16

Japan town

S1

Speaker 1

31:17

half a year later

S8

Speaker 8

31:18

speaking of which got you a little something Militech training shard in case you need to brush up on your dance moves

S1

Speaker 1

31:29

all right let's do a little tutorial still a shooting practice I guess it is wait where am I plugging that in what where did I just plug that in? This is Neuralink. Type of tech.

S1

Speaker 1

31:50

Yellow gun. Not my style, but I have to do. What am I doing? Shoot all the targets?

S1

Speaker 1

31:55

Okay.

S9

Speaker 9

32:00

Yeah, I didn't think you'd find that too tough.

S5

Speaker 5

32:02

Okay, what do

S9

Speaker 9

32:02

you say we crank it up a notch

S1

Speaker 1

32:04

with the next round the targets That's terrible

S9

Speaker 9

32:14

not bad,

S1

Speaker 1

32:15

take Preceded crouch and hide behind cover Cover can protect you from enemy fire. And then undo Oh headshot does matter got it How do you do that You're injured if your health falls to 0 you die Use the inhaler to regain health When you pick up a consumable it will automatically be added to the consumables Quick slot in your inventory if empty press X now to use 1 of the regain okay

S2

Speaker 2

33:08

cool where's

S1

Speaker 1

33:11

the health switching weapons press 12304 or the switch weapons cool I should also say that I haven't played shooters very much so I'm really terrible with shooters. Okay cool so maybe you mean.

S9

Speaker 9

33:31

Ah

S5

Speaker 5

33:34

boy.

S9

Speaker 9

33:37

Oh

S1

Speaker 1

33:40

boy. I like this lady. Hacking. Cool.

S1

Speaker 1

33:48

Let's begin training. I wonder if she's a robot. Scanning highlights objects of interest in your surroundings. It provides valuable information about them cool Hazards are highlighted in red hackable objects are highlighted in green objects useful in other ways are highlighted in blue.

S1

Speaker 1

34:06

Release tab to exit the scanner. Cool. With the Cyberdeck installed, your scanner provides an additional interface for selecting quick hacks and their targets. Use distract enemies to distract the guard.

S1

Speaker 1

34:22

Navigate the list of available quick hacks with the mouse wheel. Duration 30 seconds, cooldown 0 seconds, upload time 1.434 seconds. Causes a device to malfunction resulting in erratic behavior that will distract nearby people. Wow, so hacking is a big part of this game, that's interesting.

S1

Speaker 1

34:45

And intelligence is a part of hacking so I'm glad I invested in intelligence not all about brute force I guess the body helped with the kicking down the door this game is cool probably way too complicated okay sneak up to the guards got it

S9

Speaker 9

35:08

I got to come out quietly all yours take

S5

Speaker 5

35:18

a nap

S1

Speaker 1

35:20

killed course

S9

Speaker 9

35:23

never smart to leave behind

S1

Speaker 1

35:24

this is an alternate reality where murder is supposedly allowed

S9

Speaker 9

35:29

now pick up the body and hide it somewhere

S1

Speaker 1

35:33

pick up the body approach it closely look at it and hold our sometimes a dirty deed must be done you can hide dead and unconscious enemies in certain places doing so will help you avoid detection by other enemies got it up off in the dumpster you go I'm sorry friend But this is just virtual reality.

S5

Speaker 5

36:15

Oh I

S1

Speaker 1

36:15

want to see what technique he used. Tap to perform a fast attack. Hit the enemy 3 times with fast attacks.

S1

Speaker 1

36:29

Got it. To perform a fast attack combo press the left mouse button while the previous fast attack is executed. Hold the left mouse button to charge a strong attack then release it to perform it. Cool, let's go.

S1

Speaker 1

36:53

There you go. Use the techniques you've learned so far to defeat the enemy. And here I am using none of the techniques. Use all

S9

Speaker 9

37:07

your melee weapons. Grab a sword.

S1

Speaker 1

37:12

Nice. The melee combat techniques you've learned can also be used with melee weapons such as a katana. Okay. So I can block.

S1

Speaker 1

37:24

Cool. Cool. Very

S5

Speaker 5

37:41

easy. I'm

S9

Speaker 9

38:01

but like you're cruising already

S1

Speaker 1

38:04

She looks proud of me. Time to work. This is such a fun escape from the real world.

S1

Speaker 1

38:22

Unfortunately I probably only got an hour, maybe 2 most. I guess there's a lot of pre-story to get through here. I may not even get much at all into the main quest. Yes hi what are you looking at?

S1

Speaker 10

38:45

Sandra Dorsett targets by a mom with me to couple hours back suspected abduction

S1

Speaker 1

38:51

check is very calm the hell down book

S2

Speaker 2

38:54

could at least try to be nice

S1

Speaker 10

38:56

you want nice supported call a damn helpline

S1

Speaker 1

39:05

okay I can't we all just get along? He needs to do some yoga, working his posture. Huh.

S1

Speaker 1

39:23

That seemed like a nice lady. I know you're a sweetheart inside. That tough exterior. You need to calm down.

S1

Speaker 1

39:34

My man, Jackie, hacked the door. To begin hacking, look at a device and scan it by holding tab. Cool. Open remote deactivation.

S1

Speaker 1

39:45

Cool.

S2

Speaker 2

39:47

A profile.

S1

Speaker 1

39:51

It's a hostile area Bunch of stuff What's happening?

S2

Speaker 2

40:15

I saw them, but now it's a head. A little bit quieter. Take 1 down.

S2

Speaker 2

40:39

Just real quiet. Hey, grab the 1 closest. Let's take him. Swiped him.

S2

Speaker 2

40:48

I can spot you. All down. Limp meat. Probably not the last of them.

S1

Speaker 1

41:05

Move on. Anti-Kemston fabric tank top. Alright, he'll take everything.

S1

Speaker 1

41:11

I'm sorry buddy. Yeah. Let's take the guns.

S5

Speaker 5

41:19

Rip off their shreds!

S2

Speaker 2

41:22

Get them off me! Hold that thing!

S1

Speaker 1

41:27

Oh, this thing is... Find Sandra Dorsett. What's up Jackie?

S1

Speaker 1

41:55

How you doing brother? We should do a podcast after this. Oh, there's 2 of them. Well.

S1

Speaker 1

42:25

They don't look too friendly.

S5

Speaker 5

42:26

Follow my protocol. Follow my instructions. They don't look

S1

Speaker 1

42:26

too friendly.

S4

Speaker 4

42:30

Stimulus may administer 70 milligrams dopamine

S2

Speaker 2

42:43

Listen mano, I got this thing Mind if I borrow your wheels?

S1

Speaker 1

42:47

Yeah, let's go.

S2

Speaker 2

42:49

I got a date with Misty, but I can't take the metro. How's that gonna look for me?

S1

Speaker 1

42:55

She sounds like a nice lady. Don't

S2

Speaker 2

42:57

get used to it. How about I drive you home, huh? She's all yours.

S2

Speaker 2

43:02

I'm beat as it is.

S1

Speaker 1

43:04

Ah, these cars are badass. Reminds me of Back to the Future. Even though this is the future, it sure looks like the 80s.

S1

Speaker 1

43:24

Good music, beautiful graphics, ultra realistic. I guess I could tell I could probably spend like a hundred plus hours here just exploring the city. There's a mix of LA, there's a mix of Vegas. Jackie's deserted.

S2

Speaker 2

44:00

I'm gonna take a piss. Scavs! Come on, V!

S2

Speaker 2

44:04

Sin nada, madres! Tank, keep her steady! Hold tight, V! Mierda, perdón!

S2

Speaker 2

44:23

Got you, assholes! V, aim for the driver!

S1

Speaker 1

44:34

This game so far is a lot more shooting than RPG. It really gives me the Grand Theft Auto vibes. It's fun but like I said I'm much more Elder Scrolls kind of guy.

S1

Speaker 1

44:51

I guess it's a good little experiment about what it's like to play games, to comment and so on. I told you Jackie's a sweetheart. Romantic. I mean

S2

Speaker 2

45:16

sure trying to be a stand-up

S1

Speaker 1

45:18

probably cries during a notebook

S9

Speaker 9

45:22

that's let

S1

Speaker 1

45:23

us through please receive kindness guess

S9

Speaker 9

45:30

is there okay on your way

S1

Speaker 1

45:35

is nice

S2

Speaker 2

45:38

now can

S1

Speaker 1

45:39

we just ride with Jackie, listen to Led Zeppelin? And not shoot anybody? Can we do that?

S1

Speaker 1

45:49

So you can be nice. Amen.

S2

Speaker 2

45:52

Why am I not nice? Always? I'm always never not nice.

S1

Speaker 1

46:02

It's pretty good dialogue. Pretty good conversation. I like this place.

S1

Speaker 1

46:07

I like this game. It's gonna be sad to say goodbye. Alright. Nice handshake.

S1

Speaker 1

46:16

Go home? Home it's good to be home this is my apartment this is This is the opposite of what my apartment looks like. This is way too nice. So I can sleep, check your weapons stash, and then go to bed.

S1

Speaker 1

46:46

Alright. Where's the computer? How are you supposed to do any kind of programming? It's just guns.

S1

Speaker 1

46:54

Go to bed. Let's go to bed. It's actually currently 3am in Boston, so it's actually getting about that time, close to bed. Act 1, ok maybe I'll do 1 quest and that'll be it for this game.

S1

Speaker 1

47:22

It'll be time to say goodbye. The graphics, the characters... I can tell I would love this game. It's a beautiful place to visit.

S1

Speaker 1

47:33

Part of me is actually really enjoying the fact that I can just see people, they're not wearing masks. We're in proximity, we can just explore the depth that is each other's weirdness. Oh man. This feels surprisingly good just to be among people even if it's an original world haha these people are awesome oh man I can't wait till things open back up and you can just meet people and talk to people.

S1

Speaker 1

48:08

Look at this. Look at this city. Wow. Wow.

S1

Speaker 1

48:20

This is very Grand Theft Auto-ish. What's the job exactly?

S2

Speaker 2

48:27

We meant to come out in 1 piece.

S8

Speaker 8

48:29

Our Lord and Savior wants to tell you everything himself.

S2

Speaker 2

48:32

Face to face. No pressure, but

S1

Speaker 1

48:36

System malfunction. Are these part of the game or is this like the bugs that everyone's talking about? Alright, let's do it.

S2

Speaker 2

48:43

Let's hear what old Dex has to say. Set it up.

S1

Speaker 1

48:47

God, the graphics, even at this level I don't have it on ultra I have it on high and this is 1080p I think still so awesome look at it you can see like the freckles on his face so awesome so awesome

S2

Speaker 2

49:09

you have to stop for pedestrians

S1

Speaker 1

49:11

oh man I'm so that's not very nice I'm not very good at any of this. I apologize. This car is pretty badass that I know for sure Victor's Clinic Though a common practice, cyberware installations are still a dangerous and invasive procedure which can only be performed by qualified specialists, Ripper Docs.

S1

Speaker 1

50:02

Those are the future versions of neurosurgeons I suppose. There are several Ripper Docs operating through Night City who offer a variety of different cyberware upgrades. Select your desired cybernetic upgrade from the list and enjoy your new abilities. Your new abilities.

S1

Speaker 1

50:18

This is awesome. This is where the surgery happens. Alright, what's up buddy?

S1

Speaker 11

50:27

Neurosocket.

S2

Speaker 2

50:30

Had to jack into a client's neuro socket.

S1

Speaker 1

50:32

Neuro socket. I might

S1

Speaker 11

50:34

have gotten spiked. Experiencing migraines, nausea, hypersensitivity to bright lights? Old kid and caboodle.

S1

Speaker 11

50:42

All right, kid. We'll sort you out in a flash. Besides that, how are things?

S1

Speaker 1

50:50

Ooh, looking to upgrade. Looking to upgrade. Do I want to upgrade?

S1

Speaker 11

50:57

Chair please. Sit down and relax. Gonna keep me waiting all day.

S1

Speaker 1

51:17

Let's go back to the standing desk. Alright. As I sit down in the game, I stand up in real life.

S1

Speaker 1

51:25

It keeps saying system malfunction. I wonder if that's the bugs that we're talking about.

S5

Speaker 5

51:37

Ha ha

S1

Speaker 1

51:37

ha ha, so cool. He's gonna upgrade the eyes. That is awesome.

S1

Speaker 1

51:43

I got Lasik surgery by the way. Best thing I've ever done. Alright, let's put it in. Although I don't really trust a neurosurgeon with rolled up sleeve and sleeve tattoos.

S1

Speaker 1

52:06

I wonder if the folks in Eurolink, any of them, play this game and what they think. This is funny. Cybernetic implants are mechanical replacements for the organic parts of your body. They can give you superhuman-like abilities which can improve your combat capability and help you survive in hazardous conditions.

S1

Speaker 1

52:23

Although a common practice in 2077, the installation of cyberware is still an invasive and sometimes dangerous medical procedure. Only specialists known as Ripper docs are trusted to install cyberware safely. Let's continue. Oculus systems, operating systems.

S1

Speaker 1

52:45

God imagine this is the future. This is what upgrades look like. Of course, if it in fact costs money, then of course the elite people, that inherent money will be able to upgrade themselves and thereby increasing the gap between the have and have-nots. And there'll be a Bernie Sanders type of character who tries to fight that.

S1

Speaker 1

53:07

Maybe the future looks a lot like the present. Oculus systems, let's go with Oculus systems. Kishore Optics, $0. Cool.

S1

Speaker 1

53:17

I just installed some new eyes. Hands. Is this free? Yeah, it's free.

S1

Speaker 1

53:25

Cool. Ballistic coprocessor, increase the chance to ricochet shots with power weapons. Directly links the user's optical implant to the weapon system, offering real-time data tracking. Interesting.

S1

Speaker 1

53:39

Links the eye, or like directly to the weapon. Wow. Links the weapon to your eye. Skipping the entirety of the rest of the mess of the human biology.

S1

Speaker 1

53:52

Cool, I love it. Alright. This is cool. This gives me a little preview of this world.

S5

Speaker 5

54:04

If I

S1

Speaker 1

54:04

didn't have a million things going on I'd stay here for a few more hours but... Nope. Good to know.

S1

Speaker 1

54:27

Let's do it.

S5

Speaker 5

54:29

I wonder

S1

Speaker 1

54:29

if they'll

S5

Speaker 5

54:30

show the neurosurgery.

S1

Speaker 1

54:31

Show the neurosurgery. Look how crappy the equipment is. Oh man, they're gonna show it, aren't right that's what LASIK felt like it's like these things are going after your eye but you got to trust the robotics there you got to trust the equipment And it worked out beautifully for me.

S1

Speaker 1

55:23

I think it works out really well for most people.

S1

Speaker 11

55:33

You might feel a little discomfort at first. Burnt vision, low contrast, glitches. Well, how's it look?

S1

Speaker 11

55:49

Feel alright to you?

S5

Speaker 5

55:50

Yeah, better than ever.

S1

Speaker 1

55:51

Oh, this is fantastic, Vic.

S2

Speaker 2

55:53

Oh, beautiful. Yeah, better than ever.

S1

Speaker 1

56:00

Scanning people with your optical cyberware can provide you with a lot of useful information such as how strong an enemy might be Cool, so this like gave me extra ability to scan as a skilled netrunner You can see a list of quick hacks, which you can use against your enemies. Okay. Well, this is all stuff I already know.

S1

Speaker 11

56:34

I also inject an NCPD file search.

S5

Speaker 5

56:37

Run into any

S1

Speaker 11

56:38

ne'er do wells. You know exactly what they ne'er did well.

S1

Speaker 1

56:45

Okay, a database of individuals with bounties assigned to them is now available to use. You can identify these wanted persons with your scanner. Since all are wanted dead or alive, the methods you use to claim your reward are entirely up to you.

S1

Speaker 1

57:02

This is a pretty violent world, isn't it? I'm not going to ask

S5

Speaker 5

57:09

what it is. This is a pretty well violent world is now to work like a job I'm not gonna ask what it is

S2

Speaker 2

57:10

thanks again you're the best I owe you

S1

Speaker 11

57:16

go on show them what you're made And once you hit the big leagues, forget where you came from.

S1

Speaker 1

57:25

Jackie Wells?

S1

Speaker 12

57:30

Your heart chakra looks a little out of whack, babe. I can release it for you, but you'd have to watch out for negative energy fields.

S1

Speaker 1

57:37

Back to Jackie.

S1

Speaker 12

57:37

And avoid mean

S5

Speaker 5

57:39

reds.

S2

Speaker 2

57:39

V, yo, listen up. I talked to Dex while you were in with the doc.

S5

Speaker 5

57:43

Heart chakras.

S1

Speaker 1

57:43

We're going to

S2

Speaker 2

57:44

ride, for you. Ain't but a hop to where he's parked next to Gramsci burgers. Okay, do my best to talk us up

S1

Speaker 1

57:53

Regina Jones

S1

Speaker 12

57:57

Cyberpsychosis attacks in the city is on the rise. Now that's probably not news to you, but this issue matters to me for a few reasons. There are people who say cyberpsychosis can be treated.

S1

Speaker 1

58:10

Cyberpsychosis. And

S1

Speaker 12

58:12

I know exactly how to

S5

Speaker 5

58:12

do it.

S1

Speaker 1

58:13

Imagine all the psychological disorders. I believe that even

S1

Speaker 12

58:15

unproven therapy is still better than

S5

Speaker 5

58:17

a bullet in the brain.

S1

Speaker 1

58:17

That are side effects of implants. If I get a tip

S1

Speaker 12

58:19

about a possible attack, I'll give you a call. Let's get

S1

Speaker 1

58:23

in this car. Let's get the job done. Oh, is that Dex?

S4

Speaker 4

58:28

Nice hand. Of pleasure.

S2

Speaker 2

58:30

Dexter DeShawn in the flesh.

S4

Speaker 4

58:34

Mind if I ask you something right off the bank?

S1

Speaker 1

58:36

Nice hand.

S4

Speaker 4

58:37

Would you rather live in pieces, Mr. Nobody, die ripe old and smelling slightly of urine or go down for all times in a blaze of glory, smelling near like posies without seeing your 30th

S5

Speaker 5

58:48

this

S1

Speaker 1

58:48

guy's a philosopher how they remember you that's all that counts

S4

S2

Speaker 2

59:02

let me hear it what's the job

S4

Speaker 4

59:05

there's this prototype test a partnership to be precise job to grab simple
